Dr. Jon Hagenburg

Dr. Jon Hagenburg studied biological sciences at the University of Rhode Island prior to attending graduate school at Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC, Santa Fe, NM), one of the most prestigious schools of Oriental Medicine in the country. During his tenure, at South West Acupuncture College, Dr. Hagenburg studied Acupuncture and Oriental Herbal Medicine as well as Tuina and Shiatsu. Tuina is a Chinese Medicinal massage specific for musculoskeletal injuries and Shiatsu is a Japanese medicinal massage focusing on the treatment of diseases throughout the body. In addition to extensive studies in the college’s highly regarding Acupuncture Clinic, Dr. Hagenburg also interned at the In-Patient Physical therapy and Rehabilitation Department at St. Vincent’s Hospital. St. Vincent’s Hospital is the primary hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

After receiving his Master of Science in Oriental medicine, Dr. Jon Hagenburg attended his post-graduate training in Beijing, China. Dr. Jon Hagenburg attended the Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center where he trained by attending lectures as well as using hands on approach. The Lectures focused on Oriental Medicine and Chinese Herbology. These lectures were led by China’s leading professors of Oriental Medicine. Also, while studying in Beijing, Dr. Hagenburg interned at three different Hospitals, treating both the In-Patient and Out-Patient wards, using Acupuncture and Herbal medicine. In addition, Dr. Hagenburg also interned in one of the Hospitals Herbal Pharmacies, where he helped prepare the herbal formulas for the hospital patients.

Dr. Hagenburg is certified by the NCCAOM, the National Testing Board for Oriental Medicine, and also is certified in Acupuncture by the Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center. He holds a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and has been granted the license of Doctor of Acupuncture in the State of Rhode Island (DA00279). Dr. Hagenburg also is a lecturer on Oriental Medicine and has lectured throughout Rhode Island in such places as Rhode Island Colleges and others.
