Bladder Cancer

Bladder Cancer
I was diagnosed with Stage 2-3 bladder cancer. I was told I had 3 months to live by the head of diagnostics at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Tad has been treating me and my family for the past 20 years, ever since his practice began here in Providence. Since his Emperor's Path was instituted several years ago, I have been under his care and my life has changed dramatically.

When I was diagnosed in 2009 with bladder cancer, Dr. Tad's calm demeanor and sure-handed treatment of this noxious intruder gave me faith to know that the cancer was beatable. I have always been a positive person with a very positive and healthy outlook on life, but the knowledge that even the most terrifying diagnoses could be healed has had a tremendously positive and empowering effect on my life.

We should all be so lucky to have Dr. Tad in our lives.

Bladder Cancer
In September 2003, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bladder Cancer and surgery was performed at Brigham and Womens Hospital. The bladder would have to removed because the tumor had filled up most of the bladder and had broken through the bladder wall. After removing the bladder, a neo-bladder would be constructed using part of the bowel. The neo-bladder would replace the cancerous bladder. Surgery took 10 hours and in the second day of recovery, I started to lose my vision. The nurses were not able to get a blood pressure reading. It was determined that I was bleeding internally and had to be given sixteen pints of blood before finally going back into surgery to see why I was bleeding. In surgery it was found that somehow the spleen had a nick in it which caused internal bleeding. The surgery team that operated on me couldn't figure out how this happened, because they were not even cutting near the spleen. Being 53 years old, they felt I could live without it and therefore it was removed. Two weeks later, I went home and two weeks after that I was allowed to go back to work on a part time basis. Six weeks later I was back to work full time as the warehouse manager of a ladies clothing import manufacturer.

In January of 2004, I entered into the most rigorous program of chemotherapy that the Dana Farber Cancer Institute offered. I received infusions of chemo four days in a row for three weeks of the month with only one week off. This process continued for five months. In the 6th month, I was given radiation treatments for two weeks straight. The chemotherapy and radiation treatments were given to kill any cancer cells that could have escaped into my system from the bladder. My doctor at Dana Farber told me that in a year or so I would need more chemotherapy, but he wanted to give my body a chance to recover and gain strength.

Sometime in May of 2004, a friend of my wife met a woman named Lynn and somehow I can up in their conversation. Lynn stated that she was seeing an acupuncturist in East Providence and that she had had a dangerous form of skin cancer and other cancer issues and this man had her in remission after the Dana Farber people told her that there was no hope for her. Although it was a long ride from North Easton to East Providence in my condition, my wife was told to get me to the center as soon as possible. Without even discussing it with me, my wife made my first appointment for July 6, 2004. I did not argue because I was feeling so weak and tired, I felt I had nothing to lose.

On July 6, 2004, I had my first acupuncture treatment with Dr. Tad and then we sat down and discussed my medical history and records from Dana Farber which I brought with me. Some of the things Dr. Tad told me were that the reason I got cancer was because my immune system was out of alignment and could fight off the disease. When I first came to Dr. Tad I was like a sick puppy. My skin color was pale and grey and my lower back was killing me. Chemotherapy kills bad cells, as well as good cells and my bones were so weak I had a fracture of my lower spine. Dr. Tad told me that the combination of acupuncture and certain herbs he prescribed would correct my immune system alignment. He would target the bladder, tumors and back issues. It was recommended I come for treatments 3x's a week for the first 3 weeks and then once a week afterwards. In the first week, I didn't really find any improvement. When the technician would call me to come into the treatment room, it would take me 5 or 10 seconds just to get up from the chair and gingerly walk into the room. By the 3rd week, I was full of energy and could bounce right up and walk briskly. In the beginning, I weighed 126 lbs. which was 30lbs. lower than before I got sick. Dr. Tad gave me a weight gaining formula to take with meals and today I have put back on the 30 lbs. I have more energy and strength today and I took up the game of golf three years ago. I've gone from a 30 handicap down to an 18 handicap all from Dr. Tad and my wife buying me a great set of clubs.

After one year of success, I was able to go to every other week for treatments. Three or four times a year I go back to Dana Farber for full body scans to see if my cancer has returned. The doctors at Dana Farber are amazed at my progress. They felt I would need more chemotherapy by now and would had a few relapses, but fortunately Dr. Tad has kept me away from that happening. The people at Dana Farber don't really recognize acupuncture and herb therapy, but they tell me to just continue what I am doing. I had a few lung tumors that Dr. Tad was able to shrink and my doctors at Dana Farber told me that this cannot happen. He was all set to order more chemotherapy for me until he read the latest report.

I honestly feel if it wasn't for Dr. Tad that I might not be around to write this testimonial today. My family and I will always be indebted to Dr. Tad.
