Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia caused me to live with painful muscles, weak muscles and joints throughout my body including sharp pain in finger joints. It also took a mental toll in the form of depression and confusion. I cut sugar and caffeine out of my diet and stopped taking trazadone after one month because; it no longer made me feel good.

During the course of treatment my finger pain subsided first, followed by improved sleep. Through acupuncture and herbal therapy Dr. Tad treated very painful neuritis after enduring months of pain. He cured my 8 month old daughter's colic with one acupuncture treatment. I have noticed that his treatments shorten the duration and lessen the severity of colds, bronchitis, and flu.

Fibromyalgia, Thyroid Tumor & Weight Loss
Before I started my acupuncture treatments I did not have any part of my body that did not hurt. I felt that at the rate I was progressing pain wise it was only a matter of time before I will be in a wheel chair.

I felt my life was not worth living.

I finally decided to get acupuncture treatments and it took a while before it all kicked in. I am glad I stayed the course and did not give up. One day I realized I was walking without pain!! I just felt good!!

My life changed with my acupuncture treatments. I feel like doing things for the first time in 25 years. I lost 40 pounds.

No more pain meds for me!

Insomnia, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Chronic Pain & Hot Flashes
I will admit when I was first approached by my hair stylists' husband to think about trying acupuncture I was quite skeptical about the idea. His dad comes here and is still treating. My friend gave me Dr. Tad's number and explained the consultation and initial exam were free. I figured, really, what do have to lose except possibly one hour of my time. I kept the phone number but never called. Finally, after about one month or so of continuing to get worse, I called and scheduled for a consultation. Again, not knowing if I was going to believe if this treatment style was for me, I booked my initial three appointments. After those appointments, I started to feel a change in my sleep – for the better. Also, because I was sleeping, my energy level increased and I felt less irritable. Okay. So I started to believe that this might be for me. So I signed on to a treatment plan always keeping in the back of my mind that I can cancel at any time. After the first session of appointments, I started to feeling an improvement to my fibromyalgia symptoms (excessive fatigue and aching from head to toe 24/7). I remember Dr. Tad saying that things might get worse before I see or feel an improvement but hang in there and don't get discouraged because this will work for you. I will admit that there were days and sometimes weeks that I felt worse than when I originally came here. I would arrive for my appointments and I would stand and pace the waiting area and be crying I was so uncomfortable. Nothing helped me!! The thought of giving up was always on my mind … but I would always remember his initial statement, "things may get worse before better and I feel real results." So I figured these days and weeks were worse so things had to get better. I am now past treating for six months and I am happy to say I'm glad I hung in there. My health has improved immensely. Not just physically but mentally as well. My outlook on alternative medicine is defiantly positive and I am a true believer that it works. I have even referred two friends and they are doing great too!!!

I am glad to get rid of all of my prescription medicines and living a fulfilled life. We are presently working on my psoriasis issues and occasionally my sleepless nights return, but I know continued treatment will take care of these issues.

Thank you Dr. Tad and your friendly work team for a job well done!

Bi-Polar, Hyper Thyroid & Fibromyalgia
When I came to the center, my mind was very foggy. I was often confused (I made constant mistakes) and unable to learn new things. I was fired from a new job after two months and I was called disabled. I was chronically constipated and I had a lack of bladder control. I had very poor balance which was especially problematic with stairs. I had regular leg pain and I needed 2 alarm clocks and a phone call to wake up in the morning. My moods were always to the extreme. I often got lost and I was at the end of my rope.

Immediately after starting acupuncture, it relaxed me and I felt more balanced. I began to feel lighter and my mind was clearer. Slowly I felt I was regaining control over my life and my body – especially my body.

When I started the new plan Dr. Tad gave to me, the first thing to be "fixed" was my balance control. Second, my bowels began to work with herbs and treatment on a more regular basis (prior I needed two medications twice a day for one bowel movement every two weeks). Next, I started to have better control of my bladder. After three months of treatments and herbs my thyroid levels began to come down to eventually be normal again. I had Graves Disease too and now it is in remission. For the first time in my life, I can sometimes "let it go" and not always have emotional blow ups. I have more control over my emotions and actions.

I have now not had a manic episode since beginning treatment even though I am taking THREE LESS medications.

Fibromyalgia
I suffer from fibromyalgia and I had severe pain, aching, limited range of motion, fatigue, depression, anxiety and GERD.

Since receiving acupuncture treatments I am much better. There has been great lessening of the pain, aching and all my other symptoms.

Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Lung & Sinus Problems
When I first came to the Center for Preventive Medicine, I had basically given up on ever again having anything like normal life. I had been made incredibly ill by a toxic mold exposure that left me with chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia, lung problems and sinus problems. In addition, I had system wide inflammation and was at least 70 lbs. overweight.

Before the exposure, I had yearly medical exams. After the exposure, I lost count of all the specialists and other doctors that I had to see. Before the exposure, I was able to 3-5 miles per day and after the exposure, just slowly walking a few blocks left me exhausted, panting and feverish. I was constantly confused, had memory problems, had unexplained high fevers, and had headaches day and night as well as digestive problems. Because I had been over prescribed steroid inhalers and had to repeatedly go to the Emergency Room because of my inability to breathe and being given prednisone each time, my adrenal glands came close to failing. Upon moving into a house where it was mold free and safe to live, I broke a bone in the left foot just while walking because the steroids had so thinned my bones. This all prompted isolation because of an inability to drive for 6 weeks. All of my friends were in Boston and I had moved to Pawtucket. I was a complete mess.

I was no stranger to emotional issues as well. I had lost 6 relatives and 6 close friends to cancer in a 3 year period which overlapped with my mold exposure, leaving me traumatized and fearful. Last year, my only brother died suddenly, pushing me further out of the loop of normalcy. After the dot com bust, I lost my well paying computer job – and because of my illness, I did down in rank within the music business (I am a professional classic violinist) because I was too ill to fight. Gradually, I lost work altogether.

I lost faith that I could ever function in the work world normally. I took courses just to test myself and pushed constantly to make improvements and to try to rejoin the work world which had always defined me. Still, I was extremely depressed and anxious.

At the start of treatment, I felt a profound sense of calm envelope me – something I had not experienced in years. I was able to sleep and feel more and more refreshed. It was gradual, but eventually most of the energy returned. My weight is still too high, but since I had been sick for so long, I can't imagine that total healing can be instantaneous. I am still in treatment and just taking a step at a time.

The herbs have been very helpful. I came into this experience having had preventive treatments with a Chinese herbalist in Boston's Chinatown, but I never imagined how powerful a tool acupuncture and the herbs could be in recovering from such devastation as I had experienced.

I only came to acupuncture because the next drugs I was to be experimentally treated with by Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker of Pokemoke, MD had been put on a black box warning list, thus ending my treatment for toxic mold exposure with him. I was at a total loss as what to do. I expected nothing and got so much.

Now I am able to exercise moderately and I have a high stress job in Massachusetts where I leave the house at 6am and return at 6pm. Thank you Dr. Tad and Kasia and everyone on the staff!!
